Hi Everybody! Today I am back with my first ever Home Tour! I have teamed up with fifteen of my favorite bloggy friends to bring you our Fall-Oween Home Tour Hop! So don't forget to scroll to the bottom to check out all their beautiful homes!
For me it has been a long road to get to my first home tour up and running, mainly because there is still so much work to be done, but I am so excited (and a little nervous) to be opening our home to all of you. For my first Home Tour I focused on our main living areas, mostly because its impossible to more than a few rooms clean and photo worthy at a time with a toddler on the loose.
If this is the first time you've stopped by to visit me, I just want to take the time to say thank you! I hope you enjoy my small slice of this world. To start off, I should tell you a little bit about myself. I am a wife, a mother, a serial DIYer, an upcycler, a lover of all things unique and vintage, a thrift store addict and some times a hoarder of projects. Although I am trying to be better about the last one.
I think our home is unique because I would guess that about 80% or more of the things we own were acquired second hand. Mostly because I love fixing up old items. Older items have so much more passion and history about them. Each piece is unique and come with its own story, a story that doesn't begin with "made in China". Some of them have needed major overhauls and some only needed minor touch ups. But one thing is for sure, each piece is uniquely us.
For example, the chair in this photo is one of two that belonged to my Grandparents that date back to the 40's. Two years ago when I reupholstered them I found a slip in the bottom of one of them with the date, his name and the original order from the manufacture who custom built them just for him. For me, it just doesn't get much better than that. As I move through the house I'll share links with you from some of my past projects so you can see where some of these pieces started.
This whole vignette is dedicated to both home and family. The picture is one I took after a light snow driving through the mountains near my home town. The Quilt in the back ground was hand sewn by my Husbands Great Grandmother, perfect for those chilly fall nights! And finally this clock is another favorite of mine that you've probably seen in some of my pictures before, even though it doesn't even work. It was a gift from my Dad who collects clock as a hobby. Every time I look at it, it reminds me of home.
One of my favorite purchases this year is this adorable plaid stag (Affiliate) I have lovingly named Monty. I knew the moment I spotted him, that he would really made my fall mantle come to life.
Here's a sneak peak at one of my upcoming posts, this Fall Rose Garland turned out so cute! It adds just the right dimension to our oddly shaped mantle.
Natural grasses are a great way to bring a little fall indoors. The best part is, they're free! I found these beauties on the side of the road while running errands and they look great next to one of my cozy flannel shirt pillows.
This old garage shelf is still one of my favorite upcycles to check out my full post on it's make over click here.
Another cool upcycle project was this Patchwork Cable Knit Table Runner I made a few weeks ago. It adds the perfect amount of fall coziness to our table.
I also decided to use our new DIY Chalkboard Chargers as a little impromptu wall art in the dining room. They were just too cute to put in the cupboard!
More thrift store finds! Would you believe everything on this shelf came from thrift stores?!? This is why I am a thrift store addict!
