For my Halloween craft I chose to make these cute exclamative Sweater Pumpkins. These are the same style sweater pumpkins you can see on my Thrifted Fall Table and my 2015 Fall-oween Home Tour but this time I gave them a little extra eerie pizazz by adding BOO! to one side and EEK! to the other, making them the perfect Halloween Center Piece for our upcoming Monster Bash. - Fabric alphabet stickers from Target’s Dollar Spot (Affiliate)
- Mod Podge (Affiliate)
- A small paint brush
- Fine black glitter (Affiliate)
- Drawer knobs
- Hot glue gun and glue stick
- 4 Sweater Pumpkins (see instructions below)
To make my sparkly letters I first trimmed the “I” into the shape of a “!”. Next I applied a thin coat of Mode Podge with a small paint brush and then sprinkled on the glitter making sure to get a nice thick coat of glitter over the letter.
The Mode Podge did make the letters want to curl up, because they are so thin. To help keep them a little flatter I turned them upside down after a few minutes to dry. The curling was not a problem for the final outcome of my project.
While waiting for my letters to dry, I quickly made up some white sweater pumpkins. This can be easily accomplished by using the sleeves of a sweater or, cutting a portion of the sweater, then sewing it together in the shape of a tube. It is important to make sure it is inside out when sewing. Once all the sewing is done flip it so the reverse side of the sweater is once again facing in and fill it with Polly Fill. To seal the pumpkin I used a jute twine to tie off the top and then wrap around the outside of the pumpkin twice to create a lobed effect. After that was done I added my drawer pulls to the top of the pumpkins by simply pushing the screws through the opening at the top. To complete the look I glued my newly glittered letters to the outside of the pumpkin using hot glue. Placing Boo! on one side and EEK! on the reverse.
After that all that was left to do was to place them on my table with some fun Halloween decorations. I used a few more small sweater pumpkins in orange, white, and black. Some crows and skulls from the dollar store, and some fun Halloween lights and spiderweb table runner from Target’s Dollar Spot.
