Now if you know me at all, you know I love my Silhouette Machine (affiliate) and you know on of my favorite things to do with my Silhouette Machine is make paper projects like my DIY Olive Branches, my DIY Beach Party Invitations, and my Preppy & Unique DIY Valentine’s Wrapping Paper. So for my birthday party decor idea I thought I would step it up a bit and do something big, like really big, Like 7 feet long! So for this extra large birthday decor hop I made a beautiful Birthday Paper Floral Garland.
10 Sheets of Dark Green 12×12 Cardstock
10 Sheets of Lighter Green 12×12 Cardstock)
1 Roll Green Floral Tape
Green Floral Wire
6 Sheets Assorted Colors of 12×12 Cardstock
1 12×12 Sheet Gold Cardstock
Hot Glue
Hot Glue Gun
Silhouette Machine
Round Ink Pen
Wire Cutters />
3D Flower Silhouette Patterns (from Silhouette Store)
Leaf Silhouette File (Contains all three designs, tri-lobal, single leaf and small leaf)

To make the leaves for my paper floral garland I started by cutting out 10 sheets of both the dark green and light green leaves using a mixture of both the single leaf and tri-lobal leaf patterns.
Next I folded each leaf in half excluding the stem area.
Then using a round barreled ink pen I rolled the leaves in various directions until the desired shape was reached.
Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
To assemble my paper floral garland stems I started by wrapping a piece of floral wire with tape.
Next I went back to the top of my wire and added my first leaf using floral tape. Be sure to pull and twist the tape as you wrap it around the wire to activate the glue.
Then I continued adding both single leaves and tri-lobal leaves for about 4-5 inches. Then I made anther branch and attached it to this one in a long stream. Until I had two pieces measuring about 3.5 feet each. I also made and additional 4 pieces measuring from 8 – 15 inches. These you will want to keep separate.
Next I place the two long pieces side by side and twisted the ends together to make a loop. Since I knew I wanted the garland to hang in an L shape this is what I will use to secure my garland. If you want one long straight garland, you only need to make one continuous piece.
To hang my garland I wrapped the circle loop around the back corner of my frame and tucked a few leaves in along the upper edge making it completely damage free.
If you’ll notice in the picture above the corner of my garland is a bit sparse. This is where I added those 4 extra pieces. I simply added a hook in the end of the wire and hung them in the loop.
To make my flowers I found 3-4 3D flower patterns in the Silhouette Store and purchased them. After cutting them out using my Silhouette Machine I rolled each petal using a similar method as the leaves then hot glued the layers together. Finally I added a leaf or two to the back of each flower and a piece of floral wire. Then added a hook in the wire and hung them on my garland. My very last step was to make 3 leaf bunches (2 gold 1 green) using the directions above and add them here and there to the garland for a touch of sparkle.
Thank you all so much for stopping by and checking out my Paper Floral Garland! I’ll be sharing a few more fun diy birthday ideas with you as I prepare for my big birthday bash!
