Each Tuesday through the month of January we will be sharing with you the steps we have taken and the progress we are making as we give one room in our house a makeover. So be sure to check back each week to see how my Living Room Refresh is going! Today I’ll be sharing my Living Room Refresh Design Plan with you!

January was the perfect time of the year for such a refresh. My living room has been cleared from all the Christmas clutter and looks more like a blank canvas than ever before.
A blank canvas I am really really enjoying. I love that everything is simplified right now. And more than anything that is really where I am hoping to take not only my home and my blog in the next year but also my life. I want to get down to the pieces I really love and say good bye to the random pieces that were cool but just don’t seem to fit it.
There are so many projects I want to get done over the course of this refresh. Like giving this sheet rock monstrosity of a fireplace a much needed makeover. Pulling it out of 1980 and giving it a clean classic look. With some well placed trim, a little bit of wall paper from WallPaper Boulevard, and a whole bunch of amazing Smart Tiles.
Another project I am hoping to tackle are these two mid century modern chairs. They actually belonged to my grandparents and when I first got them they were an impressive lime green and orange. For my first upholstery diy ever I decided to tackle them. While this floral fabric was a definite improvement, it wasn’t my most successful diy project ever then add on a toddler, one giant dog, and one large dog. They are ready for another face lift. Although this time. I am thinking a slipcover is the best choice. That way I can pull it off an throw it in the wash when ever they need it.
Another feature of this room I would love to replace is this hideous 1980’s brass fan. Not only is it too small for this room, but it’s just ugly. Adding a few new fun and beautiful accents from World Market is a must not to mention some beautiful furniture from Urban Home.
A new rug is has been on my wish list for a very long time. While this blue indoor/outdoor rug has served us well. It’s time to bring in a fresh pattern. I am not kidding when I say I have probably looked at 1,000 rugs over the last year and half for this space. And I have finally, finally found one I am in love with thanks to LampsPlus.
So what are some of the key elements I would like to emphasize in my living room refresh design plan? I’m so glad you asked! I want to incorporate:
Metal Accents
Natural Wood
Fun & Fresh Decor
Recycled Glass
Neutral Fabrics and Materials
While these living room refresh design plan and style wish lists may not represent the exact item that may end up in my final living room refresh reveal, they are as close to them as I could find. I wanted to make sure I created complete design boards to help keep my room refresh clutter free and on track.
Thank you all for taking the time to stop by and check out my Living Room Refresh Design Plan. I hope you found it inspirational! Remember for sneak peaks and mini progress updates. Be sure to follow me on Instagram!

Thank you Antonio!
I absolutely love your space! I really like your curtains and your wooden blinds. I wish I had seen this during the orc. I have a wall of windows and have been stumped with what to do with them. This is going to be a refreshing makeover.
Thanks so much Jess! When we first moved in all those windows stumped me too. But I really like the mix of wood and cloth. It gives is a cozy feel that isn’t as stark as just blinds.
Love all the new items you’re planning on bringing into the room–it’s going to be such a great transformation. Ceiling fans are the worst, right?! Can’t wait to see how it all comes together.
They are!! Unfortunately they are useful too. Fashion or Function. I just wish there was a better way!
As much as I love the before of this space, I’m sure I’ll love the after with all of your new designs in place. Can’t wait to see it!

Your mood board is fab! I love that floral pillow and how all the elements come together.
